It platform = hardware + software + network technology. Hardware components represent the physical (hard) parts of a system. They consist of mainly electronic devices (mostly digital). Processing directs the execution of instructions and the transformation of data using transistors. Transistors are electronic switches that can either be on (represented by 1) or off (represented by 0). A tiny chip made up of transistors is called a microprocessor. A microprocessor contains components making up the cpu the speed of your computer measured in mhz (millions cycles/second) or ghz (billions cycles/second). Organizations choose a combination of processors with varying processing power.
