Document Summary

I am indifferent on the different solutions presented by both the authors with regards to decolonization. One side arguing for violence as the only option, to which the colonizers respond to, and the other stating that change can come through the organization of political activity. While both sides present good points on decolonization, in my opinion it involves both violence and political activity. However, if i had to side with someone i would go with a non-violent option. Hannah arendt, with her experience as a jewish person during the world war ii, gives a strong argument as to why violence is not the right way of dealing with oppression. From where i come from, i have only seen violence breed more violence. Different political organizations have targeted opposition party workers; in order to gain more power in the territory has only resulted in provoking the other side to also take violent action.
