Science and scientific methods: science: the pursuit of systemized knowledge. Comes from latin term scire or to know . This means that the term science is both to do with the method and the goal. In this case, the method would be the scientific method, and how you acquire and evaluate information and data. The goal is to develop a theory to explain the information you have evaluated: testability and replicability: To be scientific, you must express your claims and ideas clearly in order for them to be able to be properly critiqued by the scientific community. The theory must be replicable, meaning if you perform the same experiment many times, it will always have the same outcome: the role of theory: Theory: set of propositions meant to explain a class of phenomena. The results of empirical research that show a cause-effect relationship allow the accuracy of theories to be evaluated.
