People have social schemas for events such as dates, picnics, committee meetings, and family reunions as well as for certain categories of people such as (cid:862)du(cid:373)(cid:271) jo(cid:272)ks(cid:863), so(cid:272)ial (cid:272)li(cid:373)(cid:271)e(cid:396)s, (cid:862)fat (cid:396)ats(cid:863), a(cid:374)d (cid:862)(cid:449)i(cid:373)ps(cid:863). They were first described by hazel markus. If you do not have a self-schema relevant to a particular domain, you are referred to as schematic in the domain. Stereotypes: stereotypes special types of schemas that fall into the latter category.
