Rem sleep = rapid eye movement high frequency, low amplitude brain waves: declines as we grow infants spend more time in rem sleep than adults, time of vivid dreaming or nightmares. Function of sleep: conserve energy, repair wears and tears of body, help firm up learning from day (happens during rem sleep)
