What is criminology: criminology body of knowledge regarding crime as a social phenomenon. It includes the processes of making laws, breaking laws, and reacting to the breaking of laws. Its objective is the development of a body of general and verified principles and of other types of knowledge regarding this process of law, crime and treatment. (edwin sutherland & donald cressey: why we study crime: Learning about crime tells us a lot about our society. Criminal acts are defined by law in terms of: homicide, theft and sexual assault. Dealing with only lower class led to the conclusion that only lower class people committed crimes.
