Despite popular stereotypes businesses can be profitable while being ethical. Moral talks and stop efficiency b/c distracts everyone/annoying. The moral talk doesn"t fit in with their image. Values: core beliefs that guide and motivate attitudes and actions. Study of ethics: how should a moral person should behave looks at concern/beliefs/attitudes to see how they actually behave. Value congruence: shared sys of values between 2 entities, opposite value incongruence. Terminal values: desirable goals a person wants to achieve in their lifetime. Instrumental values: preferable modes of behaviour or the means to achieving terminal values. Moral values: interpersonal focus, cheerful, brave, honesty, when violated you feel pangs of guilt/conscience. Competence values: personal focus, ambition, responsible etc. when broken we feel inadequate over guilty. Prosocial-active: protection or enhancement of the welfare of others. Restrictive conformity-restraint: actions and impulses likely to harm others and to violate sanctioned norms. Ethical values: directly relate to beliefs concerning what is right and proper.
