Parasympathetic nervous system: works antagonistically, anabolic, restores the body to a normal state. Hindbrain and the midbrain: consists of the medulla, pons, and cerebellum. The medulla: regulation of heart rate, blood pressure, and respiration. Pons: serves as a link between hindbrain and midbrain, helps control respiration. Cerebellum: coordinates voluntary muscle movement, balance, maintenance of muscle tone and posture.
