Introduction: healthcare system: refers to the medical and social services that provide healthcare support to. Three models of healthcare: the medical model, the social model, the health promotion model. Long term care(ltc): serves people with chronic illnesses functional disability. Long term care combines medical and nursing care with social and community services: helps people and families cope with the demands of older people who have disabilities or chronic healthcare needs. Integration of healthcare and social services: continuum of care including institutional and community care. The health promotion model: focuses on prevention and self-care and aims to prevent disease thru lifestyle change, increased knowledge about healthy behaviour, and environmental improvement, seatbelt, work safe etc. Administration: non profit public agency, single payer, doctor private sector bill gov, 11% of gdp on hc. 91% of hospital cost and 99% of physician. Universal coverage ensures same level of hc for all. System ensures coverage if person moves to another province, changes job.
