Document Summary

Organismal bio: exchange of gas with environment for animals ventilation, circulation, and cellular respiration. Ventilation- first part of gas exchange in animals. Its weight will remain constant becauset here will be no net gain or loss of water in or out of the organism: larynx- voice box. Skin must be moist: exoskeleton- provides protection and can grow another if can survive without one for enough time but is non living and does not grow with animal and cannot be repaired if damaged. Pericardium: disadvantage of exoskeletons: provides protection from external environment, tube feet- in starfish. In the earthworm this is the nephridium: function of kidneys (fp)- excreted nitrogenous waste and regulates ion concentration and blood pressure, characteristics of mammal hearts- 4 chambers. Left side of heart pumps blood to rest of the body: tissue that covers and protects lungs- pleura, matle arteries- arteries connected to systemic heart in squid.
