Theology- the study of god, the revelation of god through scriptures, helps people lead from current faith into understanding faith. Should help us understand how our faith works (page 1) Sapiential task - the task of seeking an integration of knowledge, as in the search for the overall value and meaning in one"s life. Aggressive secularism- being closed minded, and refuting anything with religious or spiritual basis as wrong. Aggressive anti-intellectual fideism- believing in something without having reason or evidence for that belief. He believes you need both in order to seek understanding in the catholic faith. They mutually support each other and so both are necessary and should be combined so you can have a better understanding of them. In the most extreme form he finds faith to be anti-intellectual fideism and reason to be aggressive secularism so the key is to find the balance or middle ground between them.
