Document Summary
How is this related to the divine command theory. The euthyphro problem derives from socrate s seeking the definition of piety. When euthyprho offers the definition of piety to be whatever all the g-ds hate is impious and whatever the g-ds love is pious. In more definite terms, an act is pious if and only if (iff) it is love by all the g-ds. This definition leads socrates to address the question are these actions pious because the g-ds love them, or do the g-ds love them because they are pious. When euthyphro chooses pious things are loved by the g-ds because they are pious, means that these actions must be pious prior to being loved by the g-ds. Thus meaning the g-ds should love them for some other reason and ultimately this makes the love of the g-ds seem morally arbitrary.
