Multiple low-dose exposures can impact development of disease. Some conditions seem to evolve subsequent to chronic conditions or high risk states. Adaptive responses to stress by the body may be detrimental over the long term. Can see differences in disease rates based on geographic location. Example: higher cancer rates in a certain region compared to overall rate. Review of changes in rates of certain cancers show dramatic shift in rates that could not be attributed to genetics, sharply correlated with geographic location. Can see shifts in disease rates as generations move from one geographic location to another.
