Measurement = a quantitative or descriptive number assigned during the process of assessment to describe the extent to which someone possesses a certain attribute or skill. Evaluation = the process of making value judgments about the worth of a student"s product or performance; this often takes the form of assigning letter grades. Part of the process of assessment measurement + evaluation = assessment. Provide feedback on students" progress and level of achievmenet. Guide and motivate students in their own learning. Identify modifications that will better meet the needs of individual students. Placement: matching students to appropriate levels of instruction progress in specific areas (i. e. , ap english) Guidance and counseling: helping students to make appropriate educational and vocational decisions that match their skills and interests.
