Document Summary

Sexual reproduction involves meiosis while asexual reproduction involves mitosis. Asexual- energetically economical, doesn"t involve big energetic expense. Figure 16. 02- genetic variation- some survive in some conditions while others do not. Plant hormones (orientation, 5 main groups of plant hormones- auxins iaa, cytokinins, ethylene, abscisic acid aba, gibberellins ga) Hormone= small molecule, produced in one part of plant and transported to another part where it initiates or triggers a response, effective at low concentrations. Definition= general, but not always the case. Some people use growth regulators instead of hormones (since its already taken by animals) Hormones=internal factors that regulate growth in response to the enviroment. Hormone doesn"t cause the same response in every plant cell; only effect cells with certain receptor molecules on cell membrane that matches the hormone. Hormone does not contain instructions (when binds it doesn"t pass through cell- it just binds which in turns initiates a response!)
