Table, chairs, deck of cards (remove aces & jokers), dice, empty container, recreation activities typed or written on pieces of paper, white board or large piece of drawing paper for drawing, markers. Recreation activities should be listed and then cut into individual pieces. The pieces should be placed in the container so patients can draw them out as they need them. Ideally table and chairs should be placed i a horseshoe shape. Patients will need enough room to act out leisure activities. Recreation therapy intern will introduce herself and the rules of group. Recreation therapy intern will introduce the theme of leisure. Recreation therapy intern will explain how leisure and recreation can be used as a coping mechanism. It will be important to mention that not everyone has the same leisure and recreation interests and leisure and recreation can be passive or active.
