You should also be familiar with any other topic discussed in class, and should read each chapter in its entirety. Limitations to concrete operational thought: operations work best with objects that are concrete. They do better with something that they have had direct experience with in life. The child lacks the ability to use abstract thought. Things that are difficult for children to deal with are things like algebra (maths with formulas) and philosophy. Things like adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing are all things that are more concrete and easy for them to understand: horizontal decalage. One at a time and over different times, it is not a quick process. Children develop these kind of mental techniques in a non-synchronized manner.
