Document Summary

Divide into memory cells and plasma cells. Can cross the placenta and provide passive immunity to fetus. Acute systemic type i response that occurs in highly sensitive persons following injection of a specific antigen. Antigen-antibody complex prompts release of histamine, complement, acetylcholine, kinins and chemotactic factors. Slow releasing substance a increases permeability of vessels > wheals. Constriction of smooth muscle leads to difficulty breathing. Type ii hypersensitivity (cytotoxic or hemolytic reaction) May be igg or igm (usually) mediated. Signs & symptoms feeling of impending doom. Rh- vs. rh+ in mother/baby treated with rogham. Results from igg or igm antibody-antigen complexes in the circulation. Sometimes as a result of a little bit of a drug being left in the blood stream. Complexes deposit in vessel walls & tissues. Success tied to obtaining an organ with tissue antigens as close to those f the recipient as possible. Do not have to worry about rejection with avascular tissue.
