Euflexxa is the only one allowed for egg allergy patients. Glucosamine made from crab shells (not for shellfish allergies!!) Strengthens and rebuilds the joint dosage: 1500 mg/day (3-500mg tablets) Chondroitin hydrophilic, helps retain water in cartilage. Showed that in all patients celebrex was better than the placebo. For mild pain, no difference between placebo and glucosamine/chondroitin. For severe pain there, glucosamine and chondroitin were superior to the placebo. Results: glucosamine and chondroitin did not slow the progression of cartilage loss. Dmards are used to delay or possibly stop progression of the disease. *do not initiate methotrexate if patients have an active bacterial infection, herpes zoster (shingles), hep b, c, or active/latent tb.
