Document Summary

Conduct a premortem to anticipate what might go wrong. Identify decision making traps and avoid them. Be proactive to gain buy in before the decision is made. Class notes: ask employees do you trust your ceo (senior execs). Goes up but employees still don"t trust ceos. Leadership is the act of influencing others to work toward a goal: Formal leaders hold a position of authority and may utilize the power that comes from their position, as well as their personal power to influence others. Informal leaders are without a formal position of authority within the organization but demonstrate leadership by influencing others through personal forms of power. Class notes: leadership is not something that needs to be appointed. Have appointed leaders but also anyone in company can be leader. Inspiration, trust, accountability = been seen in leadership in military since wwii. But, to get this far, or further, you need to learn new leadership skills.
