Document Summary

Last majority of organisms found in marine, shallow region. At 1100m, the light disappears and so does heat. Distribution based on temp, depth, water conditions. Deep pegalic - dark, high pressure, cold environment. Can feed on invertebrates so diversity increases a bit. Produce lots of eggs (ex. cod fish) Very few eggs that are large and there are a lot of parental investment (ex. hagfish) Lecithotrophy - female produces large egg, but retains it in utero until it hatches. Advantage: hides eggs from predators, can"t get swept away by storm. Matrotrophy - female supplies nutrients to embryo. Oophagy - eats eggs, as they come in oviduct. Epithiliotrophy - female produces nutrients in lining of duct and young graze it off for food. Placentation - placenta is formed, nutrients are passed to embryo. Runs from holyoke dam to turners falls. Ladders are for jumping fish like salmon. Pterygiophore - inside fins (radial or basal) Large elements that support basis of fin.
