Social psychology - the scientific study of the feelings, thoughts, and behaviors of individuals in social situations: an extremely broad discipline. Personality psychology - stresses individual differences in behavior rather than the social situation. Cognitive psychology - how people perceive, think about, and remember aspects of the world. Sociology - study of behavior in the aggregate. Kurt lewin the behavior of people is always a function of the field of forces in which they find themselves. Fundamental attribution error the failure to recognize the importance of situational influences on behavior, and the corresponding tendency to overemphasize the importance of dispositions or traits on behavior. Channel factor certain situational circumstances that appear unimportant on the surface but that can have great consequences for behavior, either facilitating, blocking, or guiding behavior in a particular direction: example: being in a hurry. Construal people"s interpretation and inference about the stimuli or situations they confront. Our perceptions in turn influence our behavior toward others.
