Females display greater verbal abilities than males but on verbal tasks the dif is small. Males outperform females on many aspects of spatial ability. Bem sex role inventory- classifies people on masculinity and feminity (changes with age, roles throughout the day); androgynous, feminine sex , undifferentiated, masculine sex typed. Gendered parenting: parents tend to have shared goals (differential roles, styles, levels of involvement/behavior)~ cant do experiments all correlational. Individual (differing) perceptions of children: aspirations and concerns for children, differential treatment by sex of child. Interaction of these factors result in differential patters of child dvmt and well being: different parent-child relationships yield dif results.
