Simple columnar: inner lining of digestive tract, lining of brain ventricles. Stratified columnar: inner lining of urethra: gas exchange. Lung tissue contains alveoli as the sites of gas exchange. Contains thin cells and large surface area that facilitates gas diffusion. Gas exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide takes place in the alveoli.
