Mcmahon illustrates her argument by analyzing valdez"s punk glamour in asco and her solo works. Mode presents a statement that women can have the control and authoritative power. Thereby, valdez is deconstructing the gender norm that women are passive and subordinate to men. Additionally, valdez also critiques hollywood"s idealization of beauty as white as she captures the viewer"s attention as she sits elegantly and glamorous.
