Short-notice evacuation caused: economic ruin, psychological scars that kept them silent afterward. Sansei feel more anger at government/their parents who didn"t do anything to stop it although they kinda understand why now/discrimination in us society. Set up play to reenact the evacuation process. Belief that it was the nisei who suffered, not the sansei. Critical faith: japanese americans and the birth of a new civil religion by iwamura. Pilgrimage to manzanar to give people lesson on what life was like for internees. Post immigrant japanese americans have developed their own brand of civil religion that links them to public life. Organizations, projects, modern-day rituals have become a sacred part of the community. Japanese americans stood up for arabs after 9/11. Make trips to manzanar to remember and do cultural activities. Draft resistance--not going until they get civil rights.
