As a teacher interacting with students, it is essential for me to serve as a role model by making professional judgments and decisions built on moral and societal virtues. Students need lessons that model and teach moral character and virtues. In teaching jrotc i serve as a role model for cadets. In doing this i must represent the values that i teach and that includes teaching as much by example as by the syllabus. A vital part of the program is to instill character in students through the teaching of core values and by developing character. It is my job to model key character traits such as integrity, discipline, commitment, respect, motivation, trust, pride, belonging, etc. As a teacher it is critical that i live by what i teach. I always say that actions speak louder than words and that is a key concept/strategy in being a role model for my students.
