It"s what is in the media we"re consuming that has an effect. Watching tv or consuming media isn"t the sole reason for violence. Ntvs (national television violence study: almost 20 yrs old, funded by lobbyists, violence: deliberate harm by a person to a person, found violence on television is common, justified, and sanitized. Heavy gamers respond less to negative emotional images. Watching a lot of violence desensitizes you. Heavy gameplay changes the degree that people respond. Exposure to will raise expectations for that sex. In media, more violent men tend to be more muscular men: may not be the violence but the body, watching it makes us be more careful of how we are perceived. Should there be censorship: obscenity is not applicable to violence, violence protected by 1st amendment. Research says that if something is only appropriate for certain age, they want to watch it even more.
