Document Summary

Moral theories are used to justify the free market system. Markets get people what they want, thus they produce good consequences. Markets allow people to act freely, thus they respect rights. Utilitarianism and deontological ethics each offer a perspective on army conscription vs. a market system army. Utilitarianism supports the market system as a more effective means of participation. In regards to deontological justification of the market system, people can choose to participate rather than be mandated, supporting their freedom. An authority knows what"s best and has the right to impose it, authority may be right even though coercion is wrong. Rejection would be a firm denial of a certain justification of the free market, where as opposition to the free market means that they oppose the whole notion. I can reject the utilitarian justification of the free market, but i can still side with a free market. Questions on the utilitarian justification of the market.
