Provide a brief overview of the blind side of gis and support your discussion with examples. Gis is a tool that is used to improve our day to day working and living arrangements. It can be used to foster effective short, and long term, decision making. It can be applied to many socio-economic and environmental problems. Not only that, but gis supports mapping, measurement, management, monitoring and modeling operations. While there are many incredibly useful uses for gis, there are a few drawbacks that are referred to as the blind side of gis. There are two major negative effects gis has had on us; digital divides and invasion of privacy . Digital divides is the creation of a technological gap between one party and another. For instance, a digital divide exists between the u. s. and africa. Seeing as africa is a third world nation, they do not have access to the internet the same way we do.
