Use vcl (virtual computer lab) instead of running matlab on laptop. High level programming languages allow us to just write result = 2 + 3. Not a programming language; it"s a scientific and engineering computing environment. Encouraged to run matlab during class to test out code. M-files: scripts of code that can be run. Workspace: shows values of all variables being used/stored. Variables will be there until you manually clear it. If something isn"t working and you think it should be, save, quit matlab, try again. Won"t be using toolboxes in this class. If caret ^ looks tiny on vcl: go to local matlab on computer, type ^ and copy and paste it into vcl. Use up arrow and scroll to find past codes in script/file.
