Older people have more negative views of themselves than young adults have of themselves. An individuals self concept and self esteem may be diminished. Ageism leads to other forms of oppression. May result in an older person"s unwillingness to seek needed services or health care. Other people may feel free to respond negatively to elderly or ignore them completely.
