Like the moon, its surface is heavily cratered, but the smooth regions appear to look like lava flows. The surface is very volcanic, fractured and contorted. Earth has a variety of geological features such as mountains, volcanoes, riverbeds, and craters. Heavily cratered and old highlands that have light colored rocks. (far side has more highlands) the younger maria have fewer craters, are rich in iron and have dark- colored rocks. Cratered highland to the south and less cratered lowlands to the north. Has enormous valleys, massive volcanoes and polar ice caps. None exactly 2/3 of its orbital period due to tidal forces from the. Very thick; consists of mostly carbon dioxide which creates a strong greenhouse effect. It rotates very slowly, and does not appear to have plate tectonics. The carbon dioxide in the earth is dissolved by rocks in the ocean. It is habitable since it is large enough to be geologically active.
