To answer the people"s prayers to make a rival for gilgamesh. Wild being, lives with the animals: shamhat seduces enkidu. She makes him truly human, defiles him civilizes him. First meeting is a fight to a draw. He has a companion now to help, has the courage to do it, needs something new to do. Enkidu disagrees with it extremely: during the journey to the forest of cedar, which humbaba guards, gilgamesh dreams. Consider how gilgamesh responds to his dreams and how enkidu interprets them. What trait does the reader see for the first time in gilgamesh? (in other words, how do his dreams make gilgamesh feel?) Why or why not? (what role does shamash play?)
