Robber - 32 y/o - 5 robberies, currently parole - so he is a repeat offender. We are home to 5% of the world population but 25% of the worlds prisoners. Our incarceration rate is 4x higher than chinas. We keep more prisoners than the top 35 european countries combined. In 1980 there were 500,000 people in prison, today there are 2. 2 million. The prison population has doubled in the last two decades alone.
