Geographic wherever you live is your district (state legislatures create these districts) [compactness and contiguity] Heterogeneous districts diverse (economic activity, ideology, party, ethnicity) More difficult to represent, may make some groups unhappy. Public policy created in your district will make everyone happy. Most districts today lack compactness and sense of identity. Non-geographic based on population of certain occupations, race, wealth, etc. Entrepreneurial want a representative based on common interests/job.
