The universe is: beautiful, big, organized, understandable, and still being discovered. Learning goals: watch objects make up the universe, how those objects are arranged, how the history of the universe is reflected in it contents, how have we learned about the universe. Course outline: stars, galaxies, the universe of galaxies, history of the universe, latest cool things and some big mysteries of the universe. Every class will have pair and share questions using the abcd cards. Lecture tutorials for introductory astronomy- bring textbook daily includes tougher questions to wok through during lectures. Assigned for each lecture (essential cosmic perspective 8th edition) Holden observatory 80 minutes starts on jan 29th. February 12th, may 7th, april 11th - final: friday may 4th 3:00-5:00. The lowest score out of the exams is dropped and if the lowest score is the final it will only count for 100 points. Very big which makes it cool but challenging.
