Developing strategies in both an internal and external. Ethicality-legality matrix: ethical, legal: considered ethical by society, and doesn"t violate any laws. This is where most people want to be. It is also the most expensive place to be because you have to spend money to comply with all the rules: ethical, but illegal: you could be doing something helpful that"s prevented by a law. Example: a company that has made a cure for cancer, but fda requirements make it illegal to sell to the public: legal, but unethical: doing something that doesn"t break any laws, but is considered wrong by society. Example: outsourcing to sweatshops in asia: illegal and unethical: doing something that is both considered wrong and is illegal. 3 stages of business (social responsibility): 1) make money by any means, no social responsibility (industrial revolution). Do whatever it takes to make money, regardless of peoples well-being or environmental factors: 2) make money, be somewhat socially responsible.
