Space- the area over which particular natural or human activities extend and geographers view these activities as dynamic and interactive, involving actions, people, resources, products and information. Determinism- theory that states people were somehow (culturally, socially, intellectually) shaped by landscape. Possibilism- humans choose to shape and order the landscape in ways that suit them. Whenever the aspirations and values of a society are brought to bear on the natural environment to shape that environment, we can say that a cultural landscape has been created. Natural landscape is the medium, culture(aspirations and values) is the agent of change, and the cultural landscape as the outcome. Landmarks- specific physical reference points within specific landscapes that may be either constructed or natural or both. Some landmarks have become iconic features that symbolize a culture or country ex: Cultural region- area within which a particular cultural system prevails and that is typified by specific cultural landscapes ex: styles of architecture or patterns of agriculture.
