The exam will cover material from lecture and the assigned. The final exam will be held on friday, may 5 from 4:00-6:30pm. Types of small groups: primary groups, groups that satisfy primary needs (friends and family) Focus on accomplishing tasks, focus on making a decision, fulfill needs for control and achievement: activity, allow members to participate in an activity for fun and satisfaction and to spend time with friends, personal growth. People come together to develop personal and come together to help themselves and others overcome personal problems (support group) Form so the group members can understand the subject material thoroughly by putting together their knowledge or beliefs/ideas: problem-solving groups. Come together to address a position/problem they see in the world (activist group) Id a reason why a group is needed, a problem that has to be solved. Characteristics of individual group roles: group leader, makes rules/plans, makes sure primary goal of group gets accomplished, compromiser.
