Document Summary
Coach breathing- in through nose 3 sec, out through mouth 3 sec. Vitals- respiratory rate, pulse ox, pulse rate. During vitals- nod yes or no: do you have asthma? do you have an inhaler? has this ever happened before? . Teach how to use inhaler- breath in and out, seal lips on spacer, press down and inhale, holding for 10 seconds. Remove and continue- may do 2-3 times. Worsening- grab aed, emergency o2, epipen + call ems. Call 911, get aed and o2, opa/npa, pocket mask. Tilt neck, (jaw thrust if spine injury suspected) - give breaths, looking for chest rising. Insert opa/npa if no rising chest + continue breaths. 1 breath every 5 seconds (adult), 1 breath every 3 seconds (infant) After 2 minutes if no pulse . C-grip chin and lower onto forearm/thigh, give 5 back blows. Unless chance of thawing - need to keep warm if warming. Check vitals - have aed, oxygen on standby.
