Ac 43. 13 page 5-18: f. o. d. stands for foreign object. Aviation dictionary: the purpose of a borescope is to allow remote visual inspection of internal surfaces or otherwise in accessible areas. Ac 43. 13 page 5-16: the three classifications of borescopes used are; (1) a rigid tube (2) a flexible tube (3) Ac 43. 13 page 5-16: the recommended technique for detecting crack is to direct the lights beam at a 5 to 45 degree angle to the inspection surface.
