Us and britain intervene in 1944 (much later) Could use poland to invade other countries. Two countries have a long and complicated relationship-> tension. Expansion of soviet union and rise as a superpower. Increased nationalism and independence movements in asia and russia. Renewed effort to secure lasting peace through international organization- united nations.
