Document Summary

These proteins cyclins a and b seemed to be synthesizing and then going away (they cycle) You can see in this in the image where a and b are sometimes present and then sometimes not; but c is present always, so its not cycling. Cyclins a & b are proteins that accumulate during interphase and peak in mitosis. Whenever cyclin went up, mpf went up we have a correlation between mpf activity and cyclin accumulation. To find out if the cyclin a and b proteins contribute to the mpf activity, an experiment was conducted. Researchers took the frog eggs and fertilized them. The extract went through mitotic cycles (cell-free mitotic cycle) This is to study cell cycle in a cell-free system where the chromosomes go through mitosis and the genome gets doubled. The extracts were taken and then they were assayed for. They found that both mpf activity and cyclin b concentration was high during m-phase and low in interphase.
