Congregationalism - occurred in massachusetts and new england. Defined as to get together, people came in families and worked as artisans. Shining city on the hill, super religious (christianity), puritans. Basic unit of govt was city, ruled by the people in north. Kids named after people in the bible. Excessive bail and punishments - one cannot be required to pay too much for a crime (like. k for petty theft or something), or go through cruel/unusual punishments (no beheading) Opinionated history - before the 1800s, people didn"t actually care and made things up (our leaders, gods, etc. were good) Helped w/ bandages and building boats, very against slavery, brotherly love. Founded by william penn and took in germans. Women were allowed to talk in church and didn"t have many children. Historical perspective - the richer/powerful people usually have more things written about them, more important stories to tell .
