White clad : women can receive liberation in public. In 4th century a group went south: northerners began wearing clothing and accepted new scriptures (that wear said to have been lost, accounts of what mahavira said/taught, different views about womens liberation. Jain view of the universe: space, universe has 3 realms: underworld, middle world, & heavens, time, 12 stages happiness increases and declines, we are in the 5th stage of decline, physical existence still the same. Jinas are only born in the 3rd and 4th stages.
