Problem solving- team brought together to deal with a specific issue. Cross functional- bring members from different functional areas to solve a problem. Virtual- use technology to bring members together from different physical locations. Same time and resources to get everyone together. Team members tend to not be as satisfied. Self managed can be any type of team (problem solving, cross functional, virtual). Five stage model of team development: forming, team is just getting together. Figure out what you will be working on. Can bring ideas on how things should work: storming, difference of opinion, norming, define what is and isn"t acceptable, performing, working on task at hand, adjourning. Not necessarily a linear process for a lot of us. We can be at more than one stage simultaneously. Teams go through periods of inertia and activity.
