Ethical theory/moral philosophy: concerns the philosophical reasons for and against aspects of social morality. Prudence: rules of action that have a person"s self-interest in mind. People are more concerned about actions than motivation. Law: the public"s agency for translating morality into explicit social guidelines and practices and for stipulating punishments for offenses. Some argue that if it is legal, it is moral | not always true. The rule of conscience: not reliable, varies different from person to person, and can change throughout a person"s life experiences. Commonly used to treat specific moral problems such as fairness in contracts, conflicts of interest, environmental pollution, mistreatment of animals, and racial or sexual discrimination.
