Olive wreath went to owner not racer: wrestling, boxing, and pancration (pankration- boxing wrestling combined) No gouging out eyes, nose, or mouth or biting. Ended when someone finally gave up: various footraces, pentathlon. Modern event: recognized as best all around athlete: gradual changes and the end of the olympics, change in emphasis (religious-winning) Celebrating zeus, but winning became more important: development of potential future olympians.
