The first civilization to really leave behind a written legacy. Knew measurements had to be standardized (everyone have the same measurements) Kept track of time by the sun and moon. Found that a lunar year and a solar year were not the same) Each god earned a portion of the land-people worked for the gods. Every 3 years they had an 11 day mardi gras . If the rivers flooded at the wrong time of the year gods were mad . If the rivers flooded at the right time of the year gods were happy . Everything happened b/c the gods were either happy or mad.
